Big hair can really transform your look and boost your confidence, it makes you feel glamourous and put together.
In the blog today we are going to discover how to really nail volume and length. Often when women are looking for volume they cut their hair. I wanted to offer some ideas that don’t require a short haircut.
One thing I want to suggest immediately is a curtain bang, it really adds dimension without losing length. Its also a great solution for women with thick hair that needs some taming. Some times with thick hair you can feel like your hair is so thick you cant style it. So you just end up using a straightener to get it under control.
I like the curtain bang because it cuts a style into your hair. I have a lot of hair but it is fine. I really love my curtain bang because I can create massive volume or just leave it straight. Its so versatile.

1. Understanding Hair Volume
We need some shorter pieces up front to get that volume. The curtain bang on long hair really gives long hair some style and dimension. Then that is were the airstyler comes in. It creates tons of volume with air! Air creates volume because it raises up that hair cuticle. These machines are incredible for volume reasons.
The shark airstyler and the dyson are the most popular airstylers for sale on the market. I just want to give my two cents that if the dyson is in the budget grab it. I bought the shark because with the price of the dyson and me being a huge curling iron user I just couldn’t justify the risk of the dysons cost.
Now that I style and use the airstyler often and Im used to it. I wish I would have grabbed the dyson. We live and learn, or we just blog and help others. LOL. Im going to neatly list the products I love for volume.
- Shark Hairdryer
- Dyson Hairdryer
- Paul Mitchell Hairspray ( I use this before I put the section in the airstyler)
- Volume Dust
- Flexible Hairspray
- Weightless Hair Oil
2. Preparing Your Hair
- Cleansing: I personally use dry shampoo, I use dry shampoo daily before I airstyle.
- Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner for volume I use Olaplex, its so light and nourishing! No weight added!
- My favorite dry shampoo
- Weightless shampoo and conditioner that repairs damage from highlights and color.
- Conditioning:
- My favorite shampoo and conditioner for fine hair
- Avoiding heavy or greasy products to keep your styles light and airy!
